Project background

The number of pet owners has grown significantly over the past few decades and as a result, the demand for pet care has also risen. Australia is one of the countries with a high amount of pet owners and therefore requires adequate, services to cater to the needs of these pets.

The RSPCA is committed to providing animals with a high quality of life. The website already contains a wealth of information to help pet owners. The home page has each link boldly displayed, with a slide show for new updates and events. The chosen colors are warm and welcoming with natural colors to reinforce the nature of animals. The website is engaging and easy to navigate, however, the time spent clicking through to get the right information needed is inefficient. It is simple but not swift and time is an increasingly important resource for pet owners. For example, when you click the “report cruelty” button it opens a directory in a scroll drown manner, these can be optimized with a table to view contacts at once or an app to display contact based on location. Also, the contact us button does not display contacts at the first open screen, the top half contains warnings and guides for more information, and you must scroll down to see the contacts.

Advancing technology and new-age demands require an app, that puts the information and solution at your fingertips. The app will still retain key functions from the website like the search, adopt a pet button, and direct access to the RSPCA Knowledgebase.
